Mail'ette was launched in May of 2012 after lengthy Beta testing. The market for apps that help designers, photographer and other creative professionals share their work is quite crowded and Mail'ette received only minor publicity at the start. It did, however, receive a positive review in TheNextWeb and on a handful of other forums and sites that cater to creative professionals.
The main difference between Mail'ette and other apps that are meant to help designers share mockups and portfolios online is the simplicity of use. Mail'ette is as simple as using an e-mail, for both the sender and receiver. Mail'ette requires no log in or registration for the client or potential client - he or she can comment directly on the mock up page. This feature can help designers win work simply by increasing the convenience for the client.
The app is extremely easy to use. It solves a long-standing problem among designers about sharing mockups and designs with clients, which has traditionally been done through a variety of e-mail attachments, on-line storage sites and more. To use Mail'ette after you register, you simply send an e-mail to the app with full resolution images. The app will send you back an e-mail with the portfolio items organized in a single page. The return email provides a link that can be easily sent to the client. The client can comment on the work in a simple, intuitive interface without registering or logging in.
To register with Mail'ette, you simply click Create an Acocunt on the lower left hand side of the app's main page. From there, you will be taken to a form where you have to fill in your name, e-mail address and a password. After a confirmation e-mail, you are then registered for the free version.
The free package allows up to 3 active projects and a single user. This is enough to get very familiar with the app but it isn't likely enough for the average design professional. The only paid version costs $9 a month and allows you an unlimited number of projects and as many as three users.
The app is recommended to graphic designers and other creatives who work online. It is particularly useful for freelance professionals who don't have the resources of large networks of offices and co-workers.
